Hellenic Mediterranean University

Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU), offers high quality undergraduate and postgraduate studies, and enjoys recognition for its direct contribution to the development of Crete and Greece. HMU’s Academic and Research staff has extensive scientific activities in collaboration with national and international research teams that have led to significant research results, on the one hand, and the development of innovative products with international recognition. The basic and applied Research at HMU focuses on cutting-edge research areas in engineering, health sciences, environmental and materials sciences, economics, and social sciences.
Research at HMU is organized in Research Laboratories, each of which conducts basic and applied research, focusing on thematic areas as well as interdisciplinary thematic areas, developing novel products and providing services. The laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and are staffed with specialized scientific and technical staff. The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Sciences of HMU is dedicated to the development and dissemination of knowledge in the field of Science and Technology concerning the students’ educational training, so that they become capable of using and promoting contemporary methods in the fields of Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
In due course, the Department:
- Develops appropriate theoretical background of studies;
- Develops laboratory and practical training of high quality, by using contemporary technologies in education;
- Promotes capabilities and skills that are expected to make students competitive on a national and international level;
- Conducts research, mainly in the technology field and in collaboration with Institutes of Higher Education; and
- Collaborates with other Institutions involved in this field (hospitals, associations of Dieticians etc.).
The department has ten competitive members (permanent professors of HMU Crete), and five high qualification (PhD/MSc) permanent lecturers. The Department carries out applied research, mainly on the following topics: Attitudes to food and nutrition; clinical and community nutrition and health (including public health and comorbidities); food safety / quality, food processing; healthy eating/ nutritional public health initiatives and policies; local and traditional food and cuisine, artisanal food, food anthropology and sociology; nutritional counseling etc.

European Education & Learning Institute
Greece
The European Education and Learning Institute -EELI- is a Lifelong Learning Centre, certified by the National Organisation for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP). EELI offers services in a wide range of educational and training programmes and supports research, regional development, transnational partnerships and organizes training programmes for students, professionals and educators seeking to improve their professional and personal competences.
The Institute acts as a Sending, Receiving and Intermediary Institution for Erasmus+ projects that aim to promote traineeships for students, young graduates or workers. It organises professional development courses and job shadowing opportunities for trainers and educators who want to improve their qualifications.
EELI designs and manages European programmes, assisting professionals to work together, develop, share, and transfer best practices and innovative approaches. It develops and tests training curricula and materials, organizes seminars, workshops and training activities. EELI also provides public and private institutions with technical assistance in the development and implementation of EU programmes and research projects.

Umbria Training Center
Italy
Umbria Training Center is a NGO of social promotion founded in 1992 by a team of experts in European policies, vocational training, local sustainable development and tourism, human resource management. UTC provides consulting services to public and private entities that want to develop community based programs on territorial governance innovation, sustainable rural development policies, tourism issues, improvement of educational paths, social integration, personal development and self-employment.
UTC collaborates with public bodies, SMEs and local partners, pursuing the following purposes: promote local and green sustainable development; promote European mobility in the vocational training system; facilitate the access and reintegration of people into the labor market. Moreover, UTC carries out projects aimed at fostering access to the labor market and lifelong learning opportunities for adults in disadvantaged areas.

Chamber De Commerce Italienne

The Italian Chamber of Commerce of Nice is a private association of companies, which has been working for 25 years to strengthen Franco-Italian cross-border relations. Founded in 1997, it is an association of Italian, French and Monegasque companies, recognized by the Italian State (Law No. 518 of 1 July 1970) and by the French State (Decree of 30 August 2001). The objective of the Chamber is the promotion and development of commercial, tourist and cultural relations between the two countries, and the offer to member companies, or other structures, a wide range of services and personalized assistance.
The excellent relations established with Italian and French institutions and professional bodies, the knowledge of the Italian market and the consolidated presence on French territory, make the Chamber an essential point of reference within the network of Franco-Italian relations, and essential for the development of transnational projects.
The Chamber is a member of Assocamerestero, the association that represents more than 70 Italian Chambers of Commerce Abroad (CCIE), a reference structure for the promotion and internationalization of Italian companies and territory. The CCIE support business leaders and Italian professionals, by promoting their development on the foreign territory, and for the promotion of Made in Italy, the territory and vice versa from France to Italy. The Chamber offers a number of services in different fields of activity, including: tourism promotion, commercial support, administrative and linguistic assistance, tax and legal advice, organization of promotional and image events related to the sector of activity.

Mediterranean Diet Foundation

The Mediterranean Diet Foundation (MDF) is a non-profit organization that promotes research on the Mediterranean Diet in relation to its healthy, historical, cultural, culinary, agricultural, and environmentally friendly aspects. It safeguards this ancient heritage common to the Mediterranean populations, whose lifestyles and habits from farming practices, cooking, nutrition and regularly practiced physical activity have attracted interest from eminent scientists around the world in recent decades for their contribution to the prevention of many diseases.
One of its main objectives is to disseminate the results of studies and promote the Mediterranean diet among different population groups.
The MDF works with administrations, private companies, schools, and universities. Trying to reach different areas of influence at the local, regional, national, and international levels. MDF keeps the scientific evidence updated through its scientific initiative: Paralelo 40, led by Dr. Ramon Estruch.

University of Gastronomic Sciences
ITALY
The University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG) is an international leader in the study, research, transmission, and innovative processing of knowledge in the field of Gastronomic Sciences, focusing in particular on the relationship between food, ecology, and sustainability.
The University was founded in 2004 in Pollenzo by Slow Food, in collaboration with the regions of Piedmont and Emilia-Romagna. It is a private institution with legal recognition from the Italian government. UNISG forms gastronomes, new professional figures with multi-disciplinary skills and knowledge in the fields of science, culture, politics, economics, and ecology of food, working to apply them to food production, distribution, and sustainable consumption.
UNISG research specialization is founded on the multidisciplinary that characterizes the gastronomic context. The methodological approach springs from the University’s founding principles and is based on the issues of sustainable food as a form of sustenance and of improvement of the planet’s human and natural conditions.
The research activities of UNISG aim to increase knowledge and promote innovation in the field of gastronomic studies and are developed through collaborations at the national and international levels, with universities, research institutions, and partners (supporting partners or strategic partners), and other third parties (private or public) that can sign suitable agreements with the University.
UNISG Research is based on three interdisciplinary areas: environment, perception and quality, and mobility. UNISG research projects, related to one or more of these areas, involve specific skills of UNISG researchers and professors and of the experts who collaborate with UNISG (contract professors, visiting professors, etc.). These projects ensure relevant scientific and economic results for the scientific community, the stakeholders, and the whole society while increasing UNISG visibility and strengthening its network.
